ExxonMobil’s Dan Ammann named to TIME100 Climate list
Dan Ammann, president of our Low Carbon Solutions business, has been named to TIME magazine’s first-ever TIME100 Climate list.
The list highlights “100 of the world’s most influential leaders driving climate action in business.” (Their words. Not ours.)
We’re honored, but not totally surprised, given that in just this past year we’ve:
- Announced a landmark plan to become a leading supplier of lithium to support growth in electric vehicles
- Reached a new milestone in the volume of CO2 emissions we’ve agreed to store for industrial customers along the U.S. Gulf Coast – up to 5 million metric tons per year
- Expanded our ability to further reduce emissions by acquiring the largest CO2 pipeline network in the U.S.
- Continued to advance our plan to build the world’s largest low-carbon hydrogen plant in Baytown, Texas.
“It’s great to be included in this prestigious list,” Dan said, “and I’m proud of the team’s efforts to advance real solutions that will help reduce the world’s emissions.”
The diverse list also includes Bill Gates, founder of Breakthrough Energy Ventures; John Kerry, the U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate; and Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency.

Dan joined ExxonMobil in 2022 following a career in Silicon Valley (CEO of Cruise), Detroit (president of General Motors) and Wall Street (managing director at Morgan Stanley). The Low Carbon Solutions business he leads is focused on delivering large-scale emissions-reduction solutions for key industries.
TIME said its editors and reporters fielded nominations and recommendations from industry leaders and partner organizations, as well as TIMECO2’s Advisory Council. They assessed candidates on a variety of factors, including recency of action, measurable results and influence.
