ExxonMobil Beaumont provides fuel, hand sanitizer to support COVID-19 relief efforts
- Refinery to donate fuel to City of Beaumont and Jefferson County first responders
- Hand sanitizer to be donated to the County, City and Baptist Hospital
“We are proud of our longstanding relationship with the City of Beaumont and Jefferson County,” said Ryan Bucholtz, Beaumont refinery plant manager at ExxonMobil. “It is important we support those on the frontlines protecting our communities, and the free fuel will ensure City and County first responders are able to serve those in need in our community.”
ExxonMobil is also donating hand sanitizer to Jefferson County and the City of Beaumont, as well as Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas. The hand sanitizer is being shipped from ExxonMobil’s Baton Rouge area facilities, where the company has reconfigured manufacturing operations to produce medical-grade hand sanitizer for donation to COVID-19 response efforts.
ExxonMobil has increased monthly production of isopropyl alcohol – a key ingredient in sanitizer – by about 3,000 tonnes at its chemical manufacturing facility in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. To produce, package and distribute hand sanitizer, the company purchased additional ingredients and modified equipment in Baton Rouge and at a lubricants plant in nearby Port Allen, Louisiana.
“We are extremely grateful for the support of ExxonMobil during this time of need,” said Jefferson County Judge Jeff Branick. “Protecting those on the front lines and keeping our first responders healthy will help us ensure we are in the best possible position to fight this pandemic.”
The fuel and hand sanitizer donation is part of a larger initiative called “ExxonMobil Days of Giving” that shares information on how the company is working to support the Southeast Texas community amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
