COVID19 has delayed the free community concert, which was originally set to take place this year. However, plans are now underway for a 2021 event in Sale, featuring local music artists, the winners of the Gippsland Live music competition and a headline Australian act.
The exact timing and format of the event is still to be determined, but both Esso and Wellington Shire Council have committed to holding the fantastic community event when it is safe to do so.
Wellington Shire Council Mayor Garry Stephens said the inaugural 2019 event was a resounding success.
“People came from all over Gippsland and beyond to enjoy the first ever Esso Night Under the Stars with the legendary Daryl Braithwaite heading the line-up,” Cr Stephens said.
“The feeling among the community at the time was fantastic and next year we have the added bonus of showcasing some more local talent through the online Gippsland Live competition held earlier this year.
“Our botanic gardens are the best location for this event, with everyone coming together in the pristine gardens, enjoying each other’s company and listening to some of the best Australian music.
“Council looks forward to again partnering with Esso to bring this free event to our Wellington community.”
Esso Australia Longford Plants Manager, Kartik Garg said Esso was looking forward to another successful event in 2021.
“I am sure everyone in the Sale community is looking forward to being able to gather in public once again to enjoy an afternoon and evening of wonderful family entertainment,” he said.
“After a successful event at the end of 2019, Esso Australia is so happy to be working with Wellington Shire Council to bring this event to our community in 2021.”
Tickets will again be free and are expected to sell out quickly. Further information will be available in the new year about the concert line-up and how to secure tickets.
As in 2019, it is hoped the event will also provide fundraising opportunities for local sporting and community groups by allowing them to provide food and beverages for sale at the event.
