• Jan. 25, 2023- Mobil is increasing petrol and diesel storage at the Melbourne terminal, further strengthening Australia’s fuel security.
- The company will refurbish a number of tanks at Altona to provide more than 100 million litres of additional petrol and diesel storage by July 2023.
Mobil is refurbishing a number of tanks associated with the former Altona refinery to provide more than 100 million litres of additional petrol and diesel storage by July 2023.
“Mobil is committed to maintaining the dependable supply of quality fuels our customers rely on,” said Bruce Sutherland, Mobil’s South Pacific Executive Director.
Mobil is a major supplier of fuel to Australia, selling fuel to commercial customers, wholesalers and retailers, including 7-Eleven Australia.
“With the extension of our supply agreement with 7-Eleven, which will see Mobil quality fuel available from 7-Eleven fuel stores through to at least 2033, we continue to invest in strengthening our Australian fuel supply chain and maintaining the safe and reliable delivery of fuel where and when our customers need it.
“As well as investing in this new storage in Melbourne, we recently secured additional storage at the Vopak Terminal in Sydney,” said Sutherland.
“We are also constructing a new truck-loading bay at our Yarraville terminal in Melbourne, which will mean our customers can fill-up their fuel tankers and get back on the road delivering fuel to service stations as quickly as possible.”
The additional storage at its Melbourne terminal will further increase the efficiency and security of Mobil’s Victorian supply chain.
“Increasing the petrol and diesel storage at our Melbourne terminal will support the reliable supply of quality Mobil fuels, while contributing to Australia’s fuel security goals,” said Sutherland.
The tank refurbishment currently underway is the first of two phases of work. Mobil is also progressing a second phase that could see more tanks refurbished, adding up to a further 150 million litres of petrol and diesel storage.
