Emergency response drill at Gellibrand Marine Terminal
The Mobil Melbourne Terminal team recently conducted an emergency response exercise with two shift teams taking part in a valuable day of learning how to manage emergency scenarios at Mobil’s Gellibrand Marine Terminal, where large vessels deliver fuel.
To kick off the training, both teams participated in a desktop exercise requiring them to consider all possible emergency scenarios and then apply their prioritisation principles, while anticipating all potential outcomes.
Once completed, the teams headed over to Gellibrand Dock where they activated the Mobil Emergency Response plan while a vessel was docked.
Security and Port of Melbourne were notified of the exercise and Marine Services were called in to assist.
“These types of drills are really important for our team to see first-hand how an emergency situation might play out and practice our response. We were very grateful to the Marine Services team for participating and the outstanding skill and professionalism they demonstrated was impressive,” said Nikolai Molijn, Assistant Terminal Manager at Altona Terminal.
“It was an extremely valuable exercise for all involved. Thanks to everyone who made the day such a big success!”
