Community at the forefront of Esso operations
It has been a busy year for our Gippsland operations, as we have worked to increase production by 11% to meet the markets needs during tumultuous times. This can be credited to the hard work and dedication from our teams across our Offshore operations, Longford Plants and Long Island Point Plant. I’d like to extend my personal thanks to the extended team for the vital role they play to safely produce the gas Victorians needs each and every day.
It has been a privilege representing Esso Australia in the community over the last few months, and I have really enjoyed the opportunity to be able to personally see the support we have been able to provide the community in 2022.
Earlier this month I had the pleasure to participate in the unveiling of an amazing sensory garden, George Gray Centre in Maffra with the landscaping for the project and accessible swing for the garden funded by Esso Australia. The smiles at the opening sure were contagious, and I look forward to many more afforded to visitors in the future. I’d like to thank the George Gray Centre for the work they do supporting our community and commend them on a job well done.
More smiles were seen through further Esso Australia donations. Each year, the Red Knights host a Sale and District Toy Run where funds are used to purchase food, sporting goods, toys, and books to the event, which are then donated to children in need. Esso has also been involved in the Lions Club of Sale annual Christmas hamper project since 1974, supporting the club to provide 250 hampers for underprivileged families within the community.
On Saturday December 10, we kicked off the holiday season with some fantastic family fun at our second Esso Community Festival. I had a truly enjoyable day chatting to the community of which many knew current or past employers of Esso Australia. It was a great opportunity to learn about some great times had down at the Plant over the 50 years. It was great day spent listening to some spectacular musical talent and indulged in some amazing food. There were loads of activities for children to fill their day with. We hope every that attended had a wonderful time.
We are thankful for the range of opportunities we have been afforded to give back to our community. The next few years will see us evolve our operations to reflect our changing production footprint and transition to a new business, that will play a different but still significant role in Australia’s energy future.
I wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday season. Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!
